    • Customer states ck misfires on cylinder 5 Drove vehicle into shop. Loud audible knock can be heard. Scanned vehicle no codes in system. Must have been previously deleted. Removed number 5 plug. Plug looks fine. Ran a bore scope into the cylinder no left open valve cannot confirm broken valve spring. Allowed vehicle to run. Noise is coming from the lower end checked for damage at the flex plate. Flex plate looks fine noise still on lower rear of engine. Loaded engine up to determine noise location. Definitely at the lower end of engine. Drained oil to see if there is any metal in the crank case, and found metal in the oil. This is rod bearing knock. Truck needs an engine.

    • I CHANGED THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY IS BAD. I CK SPARK 30 KV ON ALL 4 CYLINDERS. I REMOVED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND CK COMPRESSION. CYL 1 175, CYL 2 175, YL 3 195, CYL 4 185 PSI. I CK INJECTOR PULSE ON ALL 4 CYLINDERS AND IT WAS GOOD. I REMOVED THE 20 AMP FUSE TO THE FUEL PUMP. I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE ON NEW GAS FROM A INJECTOR CLEANER. THE ENGINE STILL WILL NOT START. I REMOVED THE UPSTREAM 02 SENSOR TO SEE IF THERE WAS TO MUCH BACK PRESSURE. THE ENGINE STILL WILL NOT START. IT IS LIKE THE ENGINE IS OUT OF TIME. I REMOVED THE VALVE COVER AND CK TIMING. I FOUND THE TIMING CHAINS IS 3 TEETH OUT AND THE BALANCER IS 45 DEGREES OFF. I PUT IT BACK IN TIME AND SET THE BALANCER. NOW THE ENGINE WILL START. THE STARTER IS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE AS IF IT IS RUBBING THE FLEX PLATE. I REMOVED THE STARTER AND CK TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING IN THE BELL HOUSING. THERE IS NOT. I CK THE TORQUE CONVERTER BOLTS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIGHT. THEY ARE. I CK THE STARTER AND FOUND IT THAT IT IS NOT RETRACTING AFTER START. THE STARTER IS BAD & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. REMOVE & REPLACE STARTER. FILL COOLING SYSTEM WITH ANTI FREEZE.
