- Customer states ck misfires on cylinder 5 Drove vehicle into shop. Loud audible knock can be heard. Scanned vehicle no codes in system. Must have been previously deleted. Removed number 5 plug. Plug looks fine. Ran a bore scope into the cylinder no left open valve cannot confirm broken valve spring. Allowed vehicle to run. Noise is coming from the lower end checked for damage at the flex plate. Flex plate looks fine noise still on lower rear of engine. Loaded engine up to determine noise location. Definitely at the lower end of engine. Drained oil to see if there is any metal in the crank case, and found metal in the oil. This is rod bearing knock. Truck needs an engine.
